Emily's racking up the wins!

Great to see our Em back on the upward path again!

She banked her 8 ranking points from Wrexham and whizzed off to Asia for the Almaty $25k last week which brought her a tough first round singles against 8th seed Natalia Orlova of Russia. Emily lost in 3 sets but, happily, she justified her second seeding in the dubs (with Yuliya Beygelzimer of Ukraine) reaching the final and earning 34 ranking points.

Nipped across to the $50k in Astana where Em had to go through qualifying which she accomplished, earning 6 ranking points in the process, and a first round in the Main Draw against, yup, Natalia Orlova!

No worries; Em earnt sweet revenge! Took the first set 11-9 in the tie-breaker and then raced to 4-0 in the second set when Orlova threw in the towel.

Another 10 ranking points in the locker, then, and with both sets of points from her Kazakh fortnight going on together that'll be a very nice rise in both rankings lists on Monday!

Well done Em

Could be more still to come, of course, but with toughies in R2 singles and R1 dubs against seeded opposition hoping for more would be greedy!

GL Emily

That was a close one!

Very brave effort in R1 of the doubles with Emily and Yuliya going down to the 4th seeded Ukrainian pair Fedak & Vasylyeva 7-5 3-6 8-10

Here's hoping for better luck in R2 of the singles against 5th seed Ekaterina Ivanova (RUS) ranked 141...

Another great effort, Emily!

So, so close to taking the second set against the world #141 but Em went down 9-7 in the tiebreaker having already dropped the first set. Definitely more than ...

Off to Estonia now, then!
