LUXEMBOURG: ANNE KEOTHAVONG BEATS WORLD #51 (17.10.11)

GB #3 Anne Keothavong seems to like Luxembourg! She reached the SFs of this $220k WTA International event last year and has today qualified for the Main Draw by putting out top qualie seed Lucie Hradecka (CZE) 6-3 6-3. That's the world #51's scalp to add to that of the world #53 last week (where Annie also took a set off the world #13). Anne is currently world #93, 44 ranking points inside the top 100, and this week defending 130 points. Next up Mandy Minella (LUX) ranked #122. GO, ANNIE!

LUXEMBOURG: ANNE KEOTHAVONG BATTLES INTO R2 (18.10.11)

Excellently, GB #3 Anne Keothavong made it 4 wins on the bounce today at the $220k WTA International in Luxembourg. With GB #1 Elena Baltacha going down earlier to world #21 Julia Georges (GER) 5-7 1-6, Anne carries the flag into R2 having won her R1 against Mandy Minella (LUX) 6-3 1-6 6-3. Anne has added 30 ranking points to the 16 she took from 3 wins in qualifying and set up a likely R2 on the day after tomorrow against 5th seed Ana Ivanovic (SRB), former world #1 and now world #23. It would be her best ever win, based on opponent's ranking, if she pulls that off. GOOD LUCK, ANNIE!

LUXEMBOURG: ANNE KEOTHAVONG TROUNCES IVANOVIC (20.10.11)

GB #3 Anne Keothavong produced the best result of her whole career today, in terms of ranking of vanquished opponent! In R2 of the $220k WTA International in Luxembourg she trounced former world #1 and current world #23 Ana Ivanovic (SRB) 6-3 6-2. Next up in the QFs she meets fellow qualifier Bibianne Schoofs (NED) for a place in the SFs which would match the depth of Anne's run in the corresponding event last year. BRILLIANT, ANNIE!
