A decent contingent of Brit Guys have converged from Sheffield and Australia to try to break the singles title duck for 2009. Fingers crossed!

Leading hopes rest with GB #3 Josh Goodall, world ranked 204, who's 2nd seed here and scheduled to meet the world 189 in the final if the seedings work out. Josh had a comfortable first round today just dropping 2 games.

His only British companion in round 2 is James Ward who is seeded 6th and scheduled to meet the top seed in the QF. He had a decent work-out today before progressing 6-4 7-5 ; and now faces the Russian qualifier who today put Chris Eaton out 4-6 6-0 6-3.

Josh and James still standing!
2nd seed Josh was pushed hard by his German lucky loser opponent but he prevailed 6-4 7-5; James is 6th seed and gained revenge for Chris Eaton 3&3 and now faces the top seed in his QF. Josh takes on the 5th seed in his. Good luck, lads!

Josh and James both went down in straight sets in their singles QFs today but are through to the doubles final as a partnership where they'll take on fellow Brit Neil Pauffley and partner. There'll be at least one GB winner, then!

Congratulations to Josh and James who picked up the doubles title, seeing off Neil Pauffley and partner in the final 4-6 6-0 [10-4].
