Emily's outdoor season starts here!

With 5 competitive sets under her belt in chilly Michigan, Em will be heading to warmer climes now! She'll be ready to rock and roll!

At #6 in the qualie list she'll almost certainly be seeded when everyone has signed in on Saturday. Fingers crossed for a decent draw!

Compatriot Georgie Stoop is #9 in the Main Draw list and with her ranking a bit higher now should get a seeding.

Jade Curtis, Kat Brown and Tara Moore are further down the qualies list but assured a game; Nic Slater is still just outside at #3 on the alts list.

Getting closer to sign-in time and Emily is up to #3 on the qualies list; a top 4 qualie seeding very likely ; and, who knows, she may even squeak into the Main Draw yet! Unlikely but possible!

Nic Slater would have made the qualies but had withdrawn.

YABBA DABBA DOO!!

Great news overnight is that Emily has snuck past the qualies straight into the Main Draw! Just need a decent draw now!

Good luck, Em: go deep in this one!

Jade, Kat and Tara will be on qualie duty later today, though, so good luck to them!

2 Brit Girl winners overnight: Tara and kat were both comfortable winners of their first rounds of qualifying; sadly, Jade couldn't overturn the rankings deficit in hers ; so 5 has become 4 Brits still standing.

And I've still got my fingers crossed for Clearwater and Fort Walton Beach where Em's getting quite high up on the alternates lists (#11 and #10 respectively!); definitely might be worth popping over and hanging around the sign-ins!!

I've a feeling in my bones that it's going to be a good week for Ems this week; and a good fortnight to follow!

Best wishes for this week...I love reading all the weekly updates on your progress...it is interesting to learn about the work and effort that you put into your career. I have enjoyed watching you play (when in England !) for several years but it is fun to follow the rest of your matches and the places you go to !

Pat, It's nice to see Emily's Fans starting to gravitate towards this website. It would be fantastic if you could spread the word wherever you can and even encourage people to register and subscribe to Emily's own website. Not only does it have even more detailed updates, personal notes from Emily, but also direct links and updates on tournament news. For example there is a calendar section with links through to each tournament with draw and results news too. That's where I just picked up that Emily has drawn Klaudia OCZOVA,(SVK) #281. So good luck Ems

No need to hang around the sign-in at Fort Walton Beach!
Withdrawal deadline day has worked its magic and Em has made it! At #50 of 56 but who cares?!

Anna Smith also just made it at #55 but Naomi B is still on the outside at alt #9

Clearwater still a mirage for all 3 at the moment, sadly!

Disappointment for Emily! A good start winning the first set 6-3 but the other two went the wrong way.

Keep positive, Ems! Get some good court time in the doubles and head for Florida ready to do some damage!

Couldn't agree more - Chin up Ems. The hard work you've put in WILL pay off I'm sure of that.

Georgie Stoop GB #5 and world 194 kept the British flag flying in the singles with an emphatic 6-3 6-0 win over the world 399 and faces the world 381 next; her easy trot is likely to turn extremely difficult in the QF where she'll probably have the top seed and world 79 to contend with. Good luck, Georgie Girl!

Georgie and Emily both showed their usual pluck to progress to the doubles QFs where, respectively, they now face the 3rd and 2nd seeds.

Both matches went to the breaker set; Georgie and partner won theirs 10-5 ; Emily and partner won theirs 10-7 . Phew!

Em keen to get to Florida, then!

Suffice it to say she didn't add to her 14 ranking points for reaching the QFs but that should take her back inside the top 400 and heading towards her career high of 345!

Georgie also out of the doubles but taking her alotted place in the singles QF with a 4&1 win over the world 381.

It's a tough ask next so good luck, Georgie!
