Jersey has been playing host to an ITF 25k tourney for the girls and an ATP 42,500 Euro tourney for the guys this week.

The week has been noteworthy for Heather Watson, British #2 and World #15 junior, making her senior tour debut in her home Channel Islands (albeit not her actual island of Guernsey) and she marked it with a win! Sadly, it was at the expense of another Brit Girl but that's the luck of the draw for you!

Unfortunately for Heather, her second round match was against form Brit Girl Katie O'Brien. On paper Katie was always going to be too strong and so it proved; but all good experience!

And Katie's still going strong having today won her QF 6-3 6-3!

The men's QFs have 3 Brits (Daniel Cox, Daniel Evans and Alex Bogdanovic) still standing but annoyingly they're all in the same half of the draw ; and even more worryingly the other guy in that half is that form horse of form horses, Frenchman Stephane Robert! So it's either a Brit or Robert in the final!

Katie's first up this morning at 11am against top seed Stephanie Foretz of France. Follow live scores at atpworldtour.com ; click on tournaments tab and then atp challenger tour tab and look for the live scores Jersey link

Good luck Katie! Foretz is the current world 103; Katie got to 104 last year before dropping back later in the year so this will be a good indicator if she's ready to get back close to the top 100 again; and then break through the barrier this time. Fingers crossed!

4th up on the same court is the SF between Alex Bogdanovic and Daniel Evans (WHO BEAT ROBERT!! ) to see which Brit Guy makes tomorrow's final!

Rule Britannia!!

Katie's picked up the title!

She put Foretz out in three sets yesterday (so, yes, Katie you can make the top 100 this time! ) and her opponent today retired after Katie took the first set 7-5 and the first game of the second set. Shame to finish that way but a title's a title!

In the men's SFs yesterday, both underdogs came through with Dan Evans getting the better of Alex 6-4 in the third after taking the second on the tiebreak and now facing Jan Milar of the Czch Republic the lowest ranked Direct Acceptance into the Main Draw at world 324(Dan is a wild card). Go, Dan, make it Rule Britannia times two!

DABBA DABBA DOO!!

Dan took the final 6-3 6-2 to lift the title!
Great effort, Dan! Britannia rules ITF and ATP in Jersey!

Terrific effort by Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski in the doubles, too, winning a succession of tough matches including against the third seeds in their SF to make the final! The second seeds were just one step too far.

The girls couldn't quite match that in their doubles with Anna Fitzpatrick and Sarah Borwell and their respective partners going down in their semis. Sarah was in a scratch pairing albeit seeded second on the strength of her ranking and couldn't have improved her ranking even if she had won the tourney, in fact, so she'll just have regarded this week as a bit of practice, I imagine; great to see Anna back from injury and hopefully ready to knock 'em dead in the singles in the Turkish 10k maindraw this coming week!
