Already mentioned on the junior rankings news thread but worthy of its own headline....Laura Robson is today confirmed as number one junior girl in the ITF list!

Not bad for someone not yet 15 years 3 months old!

Laura leapt to prominence, of course, by winning junior Wimbledon last summer as a 14 year old beating opponents 3 years older including the final in front of a packed court number 1; if she stays healthy there is every chance that she'll take over Virginia Wade's mantle as the last British winner of senior Wimbledon!

Unless someone else gets there first, of course!

That's for the future; for now suffice it to say

WELL DONE, LAURA!

Word is that Laura has been sidelined since the Aussie Open with a stress fracture of the shin. Happily, it sounds like Laura is nearly ready to be back on the matchcourt ; just hope she can stay healthy long enough to really enjoy her new status as world number one!
