Many thanks for the heads-up on that Jemma

Here's hoping Em can show her best form here on the back of 3 good weeks she's had on the British tour recently. Go, Emily!

Good to see that two Brit Girls made it through the qualifiers (albeit one was guaranteed!); well done to Holly Richards who overturned the odds as 10th seed in the qualies for the 8 MD berths; well done also to Sam Vickers, 7th qseed, who emerged from the eighth which was exclusively populated by Brit Girls. In Q2 Sam edged out Steph Cornish, 9th qseed, 6-4 6-4 whilst Holly battled past the Danish 8th qseed 7-6(5) 7-5

Holly's reward in R1 is to be drawn against the 6th seed Piter of Poland; she'll have earned her ranking point if she gets to R2 then! Good luck Holly

The top quarter features 5 Brit Girls including our Emily and also features the top seed Iryna Kuryanovich (BLR) ranked #225. Jade Windley is her opponent in R1. Good luck Jade!

Well done Emily, Jade W, Anna and Alex

No, Jade didn't beat the top seed as it happens; her place was taken by Steph as Lucky Loser who gave Jade a real fight too; but Jade went through 1-6 7-5 6-3 to face Nowak (GER)

Nowak defeated Lisa Whybourn in R1; Lisa is coming back from injury so her 5-7 6-3 1-6 workout here is more than ; onwards and upwards from here (via Jersey next up!)

Emily prevailed against fellow Brit, wild card Kyria Dunford, 3&1 and faces Piter who duly did for Holly 1&2; bad luck Holly ; good luck Em

There were only 3 Brit Girls in the bottom half of the draw to start with and, with Wild Cards Jazzamay Drew and Ruth Seaborne both going down, there is now just one albeit that's in-form Anna Smith, seeded 8, and winner 0&4 over her Belgian opponent in R1

Which brings us to the turn-up of the day: 17 year old Wild Card Alexandra Walker defeating 5th seed Jade Curtis 6-4 6-3; Jade is going through a lean patch of form and will hopefully be back firing on all cylinders soon; but, that's a great result for Alex; well done!

Thanks, jemma, sort of...

That did look a worrysome match for Em; still, WCM for Jersey, eh?!

Anna Smith wins again!

Anna's really going to town on her singles at the moment even foregoing entering the dubs here...

She has won her R2 6-1 6-4 to set up a QF against Mezak (CRO) who put out 2nd seed Vongsouthi in R1. Go, Anna!

Anna into the semis!

OK, it was something of a gift with Mezak retiring after only 4 games with Anna leading 3-1 but, hey, Anna probably would have won anyway

She'll probably need her best form in the SFs with 4th seed Lenka Jurikova (SVK) ranked 288 next up; but there again Anna has been producing her best form for most of 2010 so far...

Good news from the dubs is Jade Curtis and Anna Fitzpatrick justifying their second seeding by reaching the final, beating the Dutch 3rd seeds in the semis 10-4 in the MTB ; the top seeds now await. Lift the title, Girls!

It wasn't to be!

Anna lost her singles SF 2&2; another great week though

Piter won the title without losing more than 4 games in any match until the final which she won 6-2 7-6(6); shame Emily had to meet her so early then

Piter lifted the dubs too in tandem with Ejdesgaard of Denmark; beating Jade and Anna F 6-3 6-2; clearly Piter's week!

Heigh ho; on to Jersey!
