The grass court season gathers pace!

After the exciting finale of the ATP 42,500 Euro Challenger in Nottingham today with Flemski lifting the doubles title, here's to them maybe doing the same at the ATP250 at Queens Club, London this week and Andy Murray successfully defending his singles title, eh?!

Great news already with GB #2 Alex Bogdanovic winning through the final round of qualifying today overturning the rankings to beat, by 4-6 7-6(3) 6-4, the second qseed Ilija Bozoljac (SRB) ranked 133 to Boggo's 160

Boggo's reward is a not impossible Main Draw round 1 against Bulgarian wildcard Grigor Dimitrov and, who knows, a QF against top seed (and new world #1 on the back of his title win at Roland Garros today) Rafa Nadal

In Rafa's quarter also is British wildcard Jamie Baker whilst 3rd seed Andy Murray is the only Brit in the scond quarter; Andy's seeded QF would be against 5th seed Marin Cilic (CRO)

The only Brit in the other side of the draw is wildcard James Ward who faces Robby Ginepri (USA) in round 1.

The doubles has an interesting turn-up with Andy Murray teaming up with brother Jamie in the top quarter of the draw which also has team Flemski, Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski, needing to replicate last year's heroics when they beat the Bryan twins; this time their allotted round two opponents if they get there would be this year's top seed Daniel Nestor (CAN) and Nenad Zimonjic (SRB) who are currently the second best pairing in the world.

Ross Hutchins and regular partner Jordan Kerr (AUS) are in the second quarter of the draw whlst the bottom half has two British wildcard pairings Chris Eaton & Dom Inglot and Jonny Marray & Jamie Delgado.

Good luck everybody!

Rain, rain go away!

Plenty of rain delays so far and probably more to come!

Alex Bogdanovic will be cursing the weather, I imagine, obliged to come off when having a good old dog-fight into the third set in his R1 on Monday and then getting caught cold on Tuesday

Good efforts too by, but defeats for, Jamie Baker and James Ward leaving British hopes in the hands of the defending champion who came up with some excellent play (he had to!) to defeat Ivan Navarro (ESP) 7-6(8) 6-3; next up for Andy likely to be Mardy Fish (USA)

Two British wins in the top quarter of the doubles draw

GB #1 doubles team Flemski (comprising GB #1 Ken Skupski at a new Career High ranking of world #49 this week on the back of last week's title win in Nottingham and GB #2 Colin Fleming ditto #51 ditto ) eased through 6-4 6-4 against Huss (AUS) and Monfils (FRA) to face the top seeds and joint world #3s in R2. No sweat!

And Team Murray, Jamie and Andy, came through 6-2 6-4 against USA pairing Lipsky & Querrey with 5th seeds Fish (USA) & Knowles (BAH) next up.

The other 5 Brits in the dubs went down in R1

Andy's still in it!

Team Murray, Andy and Jamie, succumbed in the dubs 3&3 but Andy's still in the singles albeit his R3 match is unfinished overnight at 3-3 in the final set.

If Andy can overcome Fish his QF opponent will not be Cilic as seeded but his R3 conqueror 12th seed Michael Llodra (FRA) ranked world #48.

The other QF in Andy's half is an all Spanish affair between world #1 Rafa Nadal and 8th seed Feliciano Lopez; with the top seeds in the other half of the draw Roddick and Djokovic both falling in R3, 7th seed Sam Querrey (USA), world #22, is highest ranked player left in the bottom half.

Here's hoping for Rafa v Andy in the semis

No Andy v Rafa SF then!

Andy failed to see off Mardy Fish when their R3 resumed, going down in the third set tie-breaker ; and Nadal lost his QF to Lopez; and it's now a Fish v Querrey final.

Here's hoping for better for Andy at Wimbledon

Great effort Flemski!

Nestor and Zimonjic ended the week as new world number 1s; kudos to Flemski for running them so close in R2 then going down 4-6 6-3 5-10; here's hoping for a kindly draw at Wimbledon
