A singles title for Britain here?

Good shout anyway with Naomi Broady top seed and our Emily 3rd seed; plus Nicola George and Jen Ren also Direct Acceptances into the Main Draw.

Very decent chance in the dubs, too, with Naomi and Em teamed up as top seeds whilst Jen is a second seed and Nicola is a third seed.

Good start today for Naomi who won her first round singles 4&1 whilst Em unfortunately had to face fellow Brit Jen; Em won 2&0

Nicola had a R1 dubs win 3&5.

Both titles still on the cards!

Sadly, Nicola went down in the singles R1 but on the brighter side all 4 are through to the dubs R2.

Keep going everybody!

Emily and Naomi remain on course...

...for a doubles final together and a singles final against each other!

Top seeded in the dubs, they came through their QF 3&2 against a Spanish wild card pairing and next face Nicola and her American partner who won their QF 10-8 in the MTB; in the other half of the draw Jen and her Russian partner won their QF 1&2 and were then gifted a walkover into the final. At least one British title-winner guaranteed then!

In the singles, top seed Naomi won her R2 against a Spaniard 3&2 and in her QF faces a Spanish qualifier whilst in the other half of the draw Emily, seeded 3, won her R2 against Alice Tisset of France 6-3 7-5. Next up for Em is 6th seed Carmen Lopez-Rueda (ESP) ranked 660.

Good luck everyone!

Dream outcome still on!

There had to be one loser, unfortunately, from the British contingent in the last batch of matches and it was Nicola ; went down to the top seeds in the dubs SF, though, so no disgrace...

Top seeds Naomi Broady and Emily Webley-Smith now face fellow Brit Jen Ren and her Russian partner Marta Sirotkina for the title; may the best team win!

Emily will be seeing a lot of Sirotkina: they meet in the singles SF too where Emily is 3rd seed and the 19 year old Russian is 2nd seed. A close match-up, then! Good Luck, Em!

Emily's QF against the 6th seed ended early with the Spaniard retiring after losing the first set without winning a game.

In the other half of the draw top seed Naomi had to work harder in her QF before prevailing 6-2 7-6(4) against a Spanish qualifier and now faces Italian 17 year old Alice Savoretti. Go, Naomi!

Doubles joy for Naomi & Emily; singles heartache

Naomi and Emily justified their top seed billing by winning the dubs final 6-2 6-3

Marta Sirotkina (RUS) exacted full revenge in the singles though by downing Emily in the SFs, 7-6(5) 6-1 , and then following up by beating Naomi in the final 6-4 in the third

Back to blighty for the Shrewsbury $75k then...
