Josh Milton's turn at the old one-two! Dan Cox had his two excellent weeks rankings-wise; this week is the first of Josh's two! Up 123 this week, thanks to his points from Chiswick, to be world #622 with a similar big bounce next week from his Roehampton title win! The points from the Vancouver $100k have gone on straightaway, of course, so James Ward +15 in the singles ; and Dom Inglot, title winner, +13 to new CH world #124 in the dubs. Andy Murray, defending 1000 points in Canada...Montreal last year, Toronto this, needs a very good week this week if he's to keep his world #4 slot... GB top 10 singles this week: 4 Andy; 220 Boggo; 249 Jamie B; 268 James; 285 Bloomers; 351 Josh G; 367 Dan S; 369 Dan E; 406 Mors; 485 Dan C GB top 10 doubles this week: 45 Ken; 49 Colin; 59 Ross; 83 Jamie M; 107 Jonny; 111 Jamie D; 124 Dom; 160 Chris; 290 Josh G; 322 Jamie B |

Andy Murray defends his 1000 points and how!! Big news today (apart from Josh Milton +127 today to be world # 495 to be inside the top 500 for the first time! ; and Dom Inglot lifting the $50k Binghampton title with Treat Huey (PHI) for their second title in 8 days...beating Flemski en route ...and +4 to new CH world #120 ) is Andy not only staving off the threat to his world #4 status but barring an unlikely sequence at this week's Cincinnati ATP1000 ensuring he's a top 4 seed at the US Open... And, having downed Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer in straight sets on successive days to retain his Canadian 1000 ATP points from last year's title, who's to say he ain't now favourite to land the Flushing Meadow big one?! World top 8 this week: Nadal 10,925 pts; Federer 7,215; Djokovic 7,085; Andy 5,305; Soderling 4,830; Davydenko 4,195; Berdych 3,950; Verdasco 3,430. Andy's "only" defending 360 points this week for a Cincinnati semi-final place last year... |

Muzza still world #4; James Ward marching upwards Andy Murray did what he had to do in Cincinatti to get that #4 seeding for Flushing Meadows but went out in R3 of the USO to Wawrinka ; still world #4 though James Ward missed the cut for the US Open qualifying by approximately one ranking spot ; but it may have been a blessing in disguise as he's had an excellent fortnight in Spain picking up a futures title and decent ranking points both weeks to surge into the world top 250 again. Into the bargain, he's taken the GB #3 spot from Jamie B and needs to add just one more win to the two he's already had this week in Thailand to take the #2 berth from Boggo. David Rice has had an excellent fortnight, too, in Mexico picking up a futures title and a RU slot to be +68 in this weeks rankings to a new Career High #423 World top 8 for singles: Rafa Nadal (who won the US Open for the first time to complete a career grand slam, only the 7th man to achieve this ) 12,025 pts; Novak Djokovic 7,145; Roger Federer 6,735; Andy Murray 5,035; Robin Soderling 4,910; Nikolay Davydenko 4,150; Tomas Berdych 3,780; Fernando Verdasco 3,330 GB top 10 for singles: 4 Andy Murray; 215 Alex Bogdanovic; 241 James Ward; 258 Jamie Baker; 298 Richard Bloomfield; 338 Josh Goodall; 358 Dan Evans; 420 Dan Smethurst; 423 David Rice; 484 Morgan Phillips [and GB #11 is Dan Cox at world #486] GB top 10 for doubles: 49 Ken Skupski; 53 Colin Fleming; 61 Ross Hutchins; 98 Jamie Murray; 106 Jonathan Marray; 112 Jamie Delgado; 113 Dom Inglot; 168 Chris Eaton; 301 Josh Goodall; 324 Jamie Baker [and GB #11 is James ward at world #389] |

Dan Cox & Josh Milton on the up (again!) Dan is +16 this week to new CH 418 Josh is +54 this week to new CH 428 James Ward, for the second week running, was just one more win away from taking the GB #2 slot but Boggo's still there! Top 10 GB men for singles this week: 4 Andy Murray; 221 Alex Bogdanovic; 224 James Ward; 269 Jamie Baker; 302 Richard Bloomfield; 327 Dan Evans; 386 Josh Goodall; 418 Dan Cox; 428 Josh Milton; 468 David Rice [and #11 Dan Smethurst at 494] Top 10 GB men for doubles this week: 59 Ken Skupski; 63 Ross Hutchins; 64 Colin Fleming; 104 Jonny Marray; 105 Jamie Murray; 112 Dom Inglot; 114 Jamie Delgado; 169 Chris Eaton; 264 Josh Goodall; 350 James Ward [and #11 Jamie Baker at 352] |

Actually, last week was really part 2 of 3 and for Sean too! As mentioned in the Home Page Stop Press column, for the third week running Dan Cox, Josh Milton and Sean Thornley are all celebrating new Career High singles rankings this week Dan, who has had his 20th birthday now, is +45 this week to be inside the world top 400 for the first time and the new GB #7 Josh, also 20 years old, is +28 this week to be inside the world top 400 for the first time too (albeit only just!) And Sean, aged 21, is +40 to be inside the world top 600 for the first time at #585 Top 10 British men for singles: 4 Andy; 223 Alex; 227 James; 293 Jamie; 306 Richard; 334 Dan E; 373 Dan C; 395 Josh G; 400 Josh M; 466 David Top 10 British men for doubles: 57 Ken; 62 Colin; 63 Ross; 106 Jonny; 109 Jamie M; 114 Dom; 118 Jamie D; 168 Chris; 265 Josh G; 350 James |

Go, Andy! This week's rankings list was very quiet from a British perspective with the only item of note Dan Cox drifting up another 3 notches to another new CH Main interest, therefore, has been centred on Andy Murray ensuring his place in the world top 8 in time for the World Tour Finals in London next month. Going down in the QFs of the ATP500 in Beijing last week, Andy's first tour appearance since the US Open, teased out the suspense until yesterday when his R3 win over Frenchman Jeremy Chardy (Andy does have an excellent record against Frenchmen! ) clinched the deal! World top 8 in this week's ATP singles list are: Nadal 12,390pts; Djokovic 7,145; Federer 6,735; Andy 5,125; Soderling 4,825; Davydenko 3,945; Berdych 3,715; Youzhny 3,345 [with 9th Verdasco 3,330 and 10th Ferrer 3,280] With Andy not defending any points from last year's Shanghai Masters which he had to miss through injury, going deep here should gain him much ground against his nearest rivals; useful in his bid to be top 4 for the Australian Open in January. Today he put another Frenchman, world #12 Tsonga, to the sword (6-2 6-2) to book himself into this year's Shanghai semis and boost his ranking points total by 360 (at least!) Go, Andy! |

Good work, James! Although it's somewhat by default this week (big points coming off for Boggo from 12 months ago) James Ward fully deserves his renewed status as GB #2 given the excellent results he's mustered over the last 3 or 4 months. It's a big old gap in the rankings up to GB #1, of course, (especially with Andy lifting 1000 points in Shanghai at the week-end, drubbing Roger Federer in the final and having already booked his place in the World Tour Finals at the O2 in London next month earlier in the week! ) and no doubt James and the others will be looking to close the gap in 2011! On a bright note for the future, good to see 17 year old George Morgan up to GB #21 already on a new Career High senior ranking of world #918. GB top 10 singles this week: 4 Andy 6,125pts; 230 James 216pts; 298 Alex 145pts; 323 Richard 130pts; 338 Jamie 125pts; 347 Dan E 120pts; 376 Dan C 108pts; 401 Josh G 97pts; 405 Josh M 94pts; 468 David 73 pts |

Congratulations, Ross! All change at the top of the GB dubs pecking order today on the back of Ross Hutchins picking up, with Stephen Huss (AUS), the ATP250 title in Montpelier yesterday Flemski's last hurrah as a team also occurred last week, in St Petersburg where they won the second of their two ATP level titles 12 months ago; they have decided to try their luck separately with, it seems, Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins hooking up... Top 10 GB singles today: 4 Andy; 220 James; 293 Alex B; 334 Richard; 345 Dan E; 353 Jamie B; 377 Dan C; 400 Josh M; 402 Josh G; 470 David Top 10 GB doubles today: 57 Ross; 77 Ken; 87 Colin; 91 Jamie M; 99 Jonny; 115 Jamie D; 117 Dom; 171 Chris; 259 Josh G; 306 Jamie B |

Big doubles titles for Ross, Colin, Jamie, Andy! The big news (apart from Boggo coming back from injury to very decent effect, +26 in the new singles list ) is again in the doubles this week. Ross followed up his ATP250 title last week with the $125k ATP Challenger title in Astana, Kazakhstan in tandem with his new partner Colin Fleming to rejoin the ranks of the world top 50 And newly-wed Jamie Murray and his best man brother Andy carried on the celebrations in style by lifting the ATP500 title in Valencia to give Jamie a big boost up the top 100 whilst Andy's jump up the world dubs list this week is a stonking +329 Top 10 GB singles: 4 Andy; 217 James; 267 Boggo; 337 Dan E; 340 Richard; 358 Jamie B; 383 Dan C; 404 Josh M; 417 Josh G; 469 David Top 10 GB doubles: 50 Ross; 65 Jamie M; 77 Colin; 79 Ken; 109 Jamie D; 113 Jonny; 116 Dom; 129 Andy; 165 Chris; 236 Josh G |

James Ward back in the top 200! GB #2 James Ward, after 4 weeks on the sidelines with a wrist niggle, had an excellent comeback at the Loughborough ATP Challenger last week including a win over the world #115 to be +18 in the new ATP singles rankings list. As he was #217 last week... Annoyingly, Robin Soderling won the Paris ATP1000 to nip past Andy Murray by 20 ranking points ; Andy could still end the year as world #3 though...or #4 or #5 but no lower. Good luck at next week's World Tour Finals in London, Andy! Slightly further down the GB pecking order, Dan Cox's brilliant last few months have reaped a big dividend this week; up from GB #7 to GB #4 in one fell swoop ; and +55 in this week's world order for a big new Career High ; a nice new CH for Josh Milton too In the dubs world list, smallish but useful rises this week for Ken Skuskpi, Jamie Delgado, Jonny Marray and Dom Inglot. Singles world top 6: Nadal 11,450 pts; Federer 7,645 pts; Djokovic 5,635 pts; Soderling 5,380pts; Andy 5,360pts; Berdych 3,755pts GB singles top 10: 5 Andy Murray; 199 James Ward; 268 Alex Bogdanovic; 328 Dan Cox; 346 Richard Bloomfield; 349 Dan Evans; 358 Jamie Baker; 389 Josh Milton; 400 Josh Goodall; 465 David Rice GB doubles top 10: 50 Ross Hutchins; 65 Jamie Murray; 76 Ken Skupski; 78 Colin Fleming; 102 Jamie Delgado; 109 Jonny Marray; 113 Dom Inglot; 131 Andy Murray; 169 Chris Eaton; 259 Josh Goodall |

Great news, Andy, nearly really great! After missing out on progressing beyond the round robin stage by the proverbial whisker at last year's World Tour Finals, great that Andy made the SFs at the O2 in London this time and, even better, secured 200 more ranking points than Robin Soderling in the process thereby returning to the world top 4 after just one week Andy met world #1 Rafa Nadal in the semis and the proverbial whisker applied at this stage: winning one set and losing the other two on tiebreaks ; final next year then? Only other news this week is GB #12 Dan Smethurst +51 in the singles list this week, courtesy of 15 ranking points for being runner-up at an ITF in the Czech Republic the week before last, to be back inside the world top 500 again That makes 12 GB men inside the top 500 at ATP Year End which is the best stat on that front since 2006 Unfortunately, James Ward drifted down slightly this week to be just outside the top 200 at Year End; so that's just Muzza inside... |

Good work Andy, Josh M, Jamie M, Jamie D, Jonny Andy Murray had a huge 1200 points to defend at this year's Australian Open having been runner-up last time; kudos for achieving that, then ; angst, with Djokovic supreme, that it's now 3 GS finals for Muzza ending with the dreaded RU tag Soderling slipped past Andy in the rankings just prior to the AO having won an ATP in Brisbane and, having lost in R1 in 2009, he was always going to stay ahead of Andy unless Andy lifted the title... Jamie Murray had an excellent first round win in the dubs at Melbourne Park to put 90 ranking points in the bank (and a few Aussie dollars!) and to lift him to be the GB #1 again after a couple of years with others in front of him in the pecking order. Jamie Delgado has this week returned to the world doubles top 100 achieving a new Career High ranking courtesy of lifting the E85k+H ATP Challenger dubs in Heilbron, Germany with Jonny Marray ; whilst in the singles list Josh Milton is up to GB #5 this week and is +36 to be at a new CH #354 having picked up a runners-up spot at a $15k ITF in China. World top 6: 1 Rafa Nadal 12,390 pts; 2 Roger Federer 7,965; 3 Novak Djokovic 7,880; 4 Robin Soderling 5,955; 5 Andy Murray 5,760; 6 David Ferrer 4,570 GB top 10 singles: 5 Andy Murray; 215 James Ward; 274 Alex Bogdanovic; 325 Dan Cox; 354 Josh Milton; 366 Richard Bloomfield; 407 Dan Evans; 408 Jamie Baker; 422 Josh Goodall; 445 Dan Smethurst GB top 10 doubles: 54 Jamie Murray; 61 Ross Hutchins; 79 Colin Fleming; 83 Ken Skupski; 92 Jamie Delgado; 108 Jonny Marray; 118 Dom Inglot; 127 Andy Murray; 165 Chris Eaton; 247 Josh Goodall |

Time for some catch-up here! As in 2010, Andy Murray's been having another devil's own job to shake off the disappointment of losing the AO final; bizarrely, however, he has this week regained his world #4 ranking as Soderling hasn't manage to defend some big points from last year. Fingers crossed Andy can rediscover his mojo during the run-up to Roland Garros; first step in the right direction today as he has chalked up his first win (first set in fact) since the Melbourne Park semis, in R2 of the Monte Carlo ATP1000 having had a bye through R1 The top 3 are streets ahead at the mo... World top 10 singles: Nadal 12,870 pts; Djokovic 9,700; Federer 8,550; Andy 5,545; Soderling 5,420; Ferrer 4,600; Berdych 3,900; Verdasco 2,925; Melzer 2,660; Monfils 2,600. Andy has no points to defend in Monte Carlo this week so he's already put another 90 points between him and Soderling for that #4 seeding for the French Open Still only 1 Brit in the singles world top 200, but there's now 13 in the top 500 with a highlight being Dan Cox getting into the top 300 for the first time GB top 10 singles: 4 Andy Murray; 214 James Ward; 280 Dan Cox; 313 Dan Evans; 370 Josh Milton; 374 Richard Bloomfield; 390 Alex Bogdanovic; 399 Jamie Baker; 404 Josh Goodall; 479 Chris Eaton [and then 481 David Rice; 494 Morgan Phillips; 499 Alex Ward] Excellently, there are now 7 Brits, including Andy Murray who's playing a bit more dubs these days, in the doubles world top 100 with a new Career High this week for Jamie Delgado a highlight GB top 10 doubles: 40 Jamie Murray; 69 Ken Skupski; 74 Colin Fleming; 80 Ross Hutchins; 83 Andy Murray; 85 Jamie Delgado; 96 Jonny Marray; 137 Dom Inglot; 160 Chris Eaton; 222 Josh Goodall |

Good work, Andy! Andy Murray bounced back into form last week at Monte Carlo reaching the ATP1000 semis there at a canter and even taking a set off Nadal who went on to lift the title for a remarkable 7th successive year. Very good start to the European clay court swing, then, plus a bit of clear water between himself and Soderling for the world #4 slot and RG #4 seeding World top 10 singles this week: Nadal 12,870 pts; Djokovic 9,640; Federer 8,550; Andy 5,905; Soderling 5,420; Ferrer 4,840; Berdych 3,900; Melzer 2,975; Monfils 2,600; Fish 2,401 Good jump (+53) up the singles rankings this week for Mors Phillips having picked up a Futures title in Spain the week before last ; also noteworthy is Dan Evans +28 this week to re-enter the top 300 GB singles top 10 this week: 4 Andy; 221 James; 280 Dan C; 285 Dan E; 360 Alex B; 369 Josh M; 374 Richard; 388 Jamie B; 425 Josh G; 441 Mors [and then 453 Chris; 474 David; 495 Alex W] A bit of good fortune came Colin Fleming's way last week-end when he lifted a Challenger dubs title in Athens courtesy of a semi-final retirement and final walk-over. Ah well, can't be helped! 110 ranking points and +9 in the rankings will do very nicely thanks! GB doubles top 10 this week: 42 Jamie M; 65 Colin; 71 Ken; 82 Ross; 84 Jamie D; 86 Andy; 95 Jonny; 135 Dom; 159 Chris; 225 Josh G |

Way to go, Muzza & Wardy! Excellent to be able to reflect on a great week on the grass at Queens Club for not one but two Brits! GB #2 James Ward chalked up a new CH world #176 on the back of making the semis of the ATP250 during which he beat, superbly, both the world #14 and world #26 ; and GB #1 Andy Murray picked up the trophy, for the second time having also won it in 2009, beating Tsonga in the rain delayed final on the Monday ; which set him up nicely for the Wimbledon Championships... A tough R1 draw for Wardy at the Eastbourne ATP250 (he went down in the final set to the world #30) meant his points for Eastbourne 2010 were not replaced dropping him back to world #192 this week. Andy had already nailed down the 4th seeding for Wimby by reaching his first ever Roland Garros semi the week before ; Soderling dropped further adrift having failed to defend most of his points from RG2010 when he reached the final. World top 8 this week: Nadal 12,070pts; Djokovic 12,005; Federer 9,230; Murray 6,855; Soderling 4,595; Ferrer 4,150; Berdych 3,490; Monfils 2,780 Top 10 GB men in singles this week: 4 Andy; 192 James; 273 Dan Cox; 301 Dan Evans; 312 Josh Milton; 335 Richard Bloomfield; 371 Jamie Baker; 389 Alex Bogdanovic; 412 David Rice; 434 Chris Eaton (with next 436 Morgan Phillips and 437 Josh Goodall) Happily, there's still 7 GB men in the world top 100 for dubs ; notably, Jamie Delgado and Jonny Marray picked up their second $85k+H title of the year in Bordeaux last month to lift Jamie to a new CH world #75 Top 10 GB men in doubles this week: 46 Jamie Murray; 69 Colin Fleming; 73 Ross Hutchins; 76 Jamie Delgado; 86 Jonathan Marray; 87 Andy Murray; 93 Ken Skupski; 138 Dom Inglot; 156 Chris Eaton; 230 Josh Goodall |

Next year then? For the third successive year Andy Murray made the Wimbledon semis but was unable to consign to history Bunny Austin's name as, in 1938, the last British mens singles finalist; it was all looking so promising when he took the first set from Rafa Nadal but hey ho: with Djokovic in such fine form this year, extending his 2011 record to 48 wins and only one loss (to Federer in the SFs at Roland Garros) by beating Rafa 3 sets to 1 in the final, perhaps it was for the best that Muzza had to wait until next year, eh?! Andy's grip on the world #4 berth, handy for the US Open seedings, tightened with Soderling going out early in SW19; likewise Andy's hold on a top 8 position for the World Tour Finals. World top 8 this week: Djokovic 13,285pts; Nadal 11,270; Federer 9,230; Andy 6,855; Soderling 4,325; Ferrer 4,150; Monfils 2,780; Fish 2,650. Best move by a GB top tenner in this week's rankings is by Jamie Baker +43 thanks to reaching the QFs of a $100k ATP Challenger in Mexico Top 10 GB for singles this week: 4 Andy; 187 James; 271 Dan C; 310 Josh M; 312 Dan E; 328 Jamie; 332 Richard; 403 Alex B; 413 David; 434 Chris (with next 437 Mors) GB's top 5 for doubles all scored useful points at Wimbledon, with Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins doing the best getting through to the QFs ; 25 points picked up by Sean Thornley and David Rice in Wimby qualies puts Sean +23 this week onto a new CH and inside the GB top 10 for the first time Top 10 GB for doubles this week: 43 Jamie M; 61 Colin; 63 Ross; 78 Jamie D; 81 Jonny; 91 Andy; 106 Ken; 187 Dom; 223 Chris; 241 Sean |

Muzza to break his GS duck! OK, think I said that last year and possibly the year before as well but he's come to this year's US Open (currently behind schedule thanks to the second tropical storm already of the past fortnight ) straight from having lifted the Cincinnati ATP1000 title against this year's super-hot Novak Djokovic, albeit Nole threw in the towel injured mid-way through their final... The singles rankings on the eve of the USO had Andy as world #4 more comfortably than this time last year ; plus, superbly, James Ward at #140 just off his recent CH of #139 earnt principally courtesy of lifting the $100k ATP Challanger in Vancouver at the start of August ; and Jamie Baker +37 on the week at #261 having reached the last 4 of the $50k ATP Challenger in Astana (KAZ) The doubles rankings had 6 Brits well inside the world top 100 with Ken Skupski only just outside too; and included a new CH for Muzza thanks to making the QFs with brother Jamie at the ATP1000 in Montreal the week before Cincinnati. Jamie has two Brits hot on his heels mind with Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins still in it at Flushing Meadow at the QF stage thanks in particular to beating the 2nd seeds Mirnyi (BLR) & Nestor (CAN) 6-3 7-5 in R2 Jamie D and Jonny M did alright in the USO dubs, too, beating the 12th seeds in R2 before going down in the final set to the 6th seeds World top 10 singles: Djokovic 13,920pts; Nadal 11,420; Federer 8,380; Murray 6,535; Ferrer 4,200; Soderling 4,145; Monfils 3,165; Fish 2,820; Berdych 2,690; Almagro 2,380. GB top 10 singles: 4 Andy Murray; 140 James Ward; 261 Jamie Baker; 312 Dan Evans; 313 Dan Cox; 347 Alex Bogdanovic; 356 Josh Milton; 364 Chris Eaton; 418 Josh Goodall; 430 David Rice GB top 10 doubles: 41 Jamie Murray; 51 Colin Fleming; 59 Ross Hutchins; 77 Andy Murray; 85 Jamie Delgado; 86 Jonathan Marray; 102 Ken Skupski; 215 Chris Eaton; 219 Sean Thornley; 225 David Rice |
