Background
Emily has been on the circuit for several years, and in that time has accrued some impressive results. She reached the second round of Wimbledon main draw in 2004, and her all-court skills have made her a strong doubles contender throughout her career.
Having been out of action with an ankle injury during much of the first half of 2008, Emily battled back from singles world rank 825 to 286 on 12.10.09 when a wrist injury meant she was unable to defend the rankings points she earned in the run-up to Christmas 2008. She returned to matchcourt action in week 5 of the 2010 season and in weeks 7 and 8 won the Corby and Swansea legs of the Aegon British Tour.
The second half of 2008 saw Emily working long and hard with good singles runs in Kolkata, including a 6-2 6-1 win over the world 208, and in Dubai and even spending Christmas in Delhi where she reached the $50k doubles final. In 2009 Emily chalked up her first two ITF singles titles and her 5th and 6th ITF doubles titles including her first $25k title. By April she had climbed to be GB #6 singles and subsequently Emily achieved a succession of new career high doubles rankings peaking at 241 on 09.11.09. Emily will be looking to achieve similar (or better!) levels of success on the world tour in 2010; to wit her 6-2 6-2 win over the world #221 in Jersey in week 12!
